“The Women for women”: The Family Planning Clinics in Catalonia during the Transition Period.

En aquest treball s’intenta establir un marc per tal de comprendre els esdeveniments i moviments socials que durant la Transició democràtica van fer possible l’accés al control de natalitat i la creació de Centres de Planificació Familiar. Aquests centres van ser llocs on hi anaven les dones per rebre informació sobre anticoncepció, autoconeixement, avortament, educació sexual i també assistència mèdica ginecològica. Un fenomen que, tot plegat, s’engloba en el que s’ha anomenat Moviment per a la Planificació Familiar.Paraules clau: anticoncepció, Planificació Familiar, feminisme, moviment veïnal, medicinaContraception was forbidden during Franco’s period, and this research studies the multiplicity of the agents —the women of the feminist movement and the local movement, the medical professionals and the first democratic city councils-who fought for the right to Family Planning and participated in the creation of new healthcare areas, the Family Planning Clinics. These centers, prior to the legalization of contraceptive methods in 1978, began to provide information on contraception, sexual and contraceptive education, and gynecological assistance was also offered.
